The word geijutsu in Japanese language, or more commonly known in the west as the word Art, Has its roots in the etymology of ancient Chinese. The word was popularised in most eastern parts of Asia by the Japanese since the “Meiji” modern period. ‘Meji’ a name designated by the Meiji Emperor’s second name. In Japanese the word geijutsu is simply derived from the meanings creative expression, while in the western sphere we associate the word Artwork with expressive forms of artisanry, craft work and drawing and painting. The Sino origins of the logographic text of which geijutsu comes from is associated with the meanings of Sixth art, also known as the art of numerology and observation.
After Studying Physics, Mathematics and Fine Art at college. I learned both to observe the natural world in a rational, objective, and scientific way. In the arts I also learned about capturing certain emotion atmosphere and lighting in a scene of nature. Many Artists have used different methods to bring these goals into fruition. But it is the methodology of the medium used and the image created that inspires me. An artworks impact whether local or international, ancient or modern is not only telling of the society we live in but also the Stories that come along with it. Throughout centuries some of our most descriptive examples of past civilisations, their Societies and cultures have come from the Artworks they produced. In a sense, every artwork has a telling purpose, whether born through tragedy, or joy. Therefore, are the humanities of the past and today. By focusing on the Arts, I hope to use my creativity and technical ability to record light of scenes in ways of which can preserve some of the moments important to the people of today.

The Artwork above was in the Renior section. The painting displays a group of people under the shade in a path surrounded by a row of tree’s. The artwork is clearly in the theme of the impressionism catagory. The Light between
the tree’s falling onto the cobble ground creates an intresting painting. The darker purple and blue tones symbolsing the cool of the shadow, and the warmer orange tones on the cobbles within the light show great contrast in
colour tone even though the geomtry shows a path which is not too long or far. Impressionistic artworks often emphasise on over-exaggerated colour vibrancy, but along with the increased colour range, large transition in tones
and hazey-ness of certain background assests within the picture creates a calm, enjoyable, delightful image. Impressionism also sometimes likes to emphasise on the textural aspect of painting aswell as the artistic interpretation
of events by not being to specific with elements that are not of importance. The end result is a hazey memory like artwork that captures the moments in a delightful way.
The Sculpture Artwork above is of Psyche and Cupid, Pshyche being the ancient greek name is refered to as Psyche but the Roman classical name is Anima, while Cupid (Roman name) has the greek name eros. The artwork itself was sculpted
by Antonio Canova who created the artwork in the Neo-Classical era. The artworks by Canova are considered neo-classical because of the theme they inherit from the classical arts of the Roman and greko cultures. The artwork
shows almost human like properties due to their accuracies in anatomy. The fold of the hair is intricately detailed and even the sculpture marks on the surface of the marble shows almost human like wrickles in the skin. The
positioning of both statues is extremly difficutly to get right because the suspension relies on the limbs of the top statue, which easily break or scratch the bottom statue if the placement was not conducted perfectly. In
the classical fine-arts sculpturing such as this is considered master level along with oil paintings which are also considered a superior art from in the classical world of art. One of the major ways in which this Sculpture
differs to what the ancient greeks or Romans would have created is the fact the ancient peoples always painted their sculptures with dyes paints and sometimes metallic mixes.
William-Adolphe Bouguereau: Young girl surrounded by angels. The oil painting is by French artist Bourguereau of whom often painted scenes depiciting angels or angelic and christian related works. His works were often in his late
period made from oil painting on canvas. The works are natural in tone, the usage of what is most probably seeded oil seems quite high. You can tell a technique uses more seed oil or animal oil than normal if the layers are
well built in with many traslaucent tones, these tones and forms of soft colours of the hair and background bokeh affect indicate more seed oil usage. His works are considered extremely famous and for obvious reason. Looking
at the artwork one can clearly understand the people and angels within the painting and the skill it took to create a crisp clear imaged by the hand of thin brushes. In certain aspects the surroundings look quite boring. But
perhaps that is to draw upon the girl who looks like she is putting her hand on her heart. most probably signifiying she has found true love.
